In the Setting Up Manipulation section earlier in the chapter, you saw the implementation of the _IManipulationEvents interface, CManipulationEventSink, that we used to handle the events raised by the Manipulation processor. However, as we just explained, the Inertia processor generates the same events as the Manipulation processor; therefore, we can use the already existing CManipulationEventSink object. All we need to do is update the object constructor and the ManipulationStarted and ManipulationCompleted functions to reflect that both functions handle the same events from two different sources. There is just one more thing you need to do to receive sensor events. You need to register your ISensorEvents implementation to specify the interface that receives sensor event notifications. From a troubleshooting standpoint, you must be able to isolate operating system problems from application problems, and also understand how each affects the other. To answer the questions in this objective, you should know how to configure the Win dows desktop, especially with regard to launching and managing running applications. You should also be able to solve basic operating system issues involving the major desktop features.

The .NET Framework provides a mechanism to call Windows API calls and unmanaged code through Platform Invoke. To use P/Invoke, you use the DllImport attribute and the name of the DLL you are referencing. You must use the private and static/shared attributes for P/Invoke calls. To allow default positioning in a structure that s to be marshaled, you can use the Layout.Sequential attribute. To specify a value for the positioning in a structure, you can use the Layout .Explicit attribute. Error messages from unmanaged code behave differently from managed exceptions. To trap them correctly, the Windows API can be used.

By using the ArrayList s Count property and indexer, you can simply walk through the collection. The ArrayList also supports the IEnumerable interface to allow the use of an Enumerator to access the list. The IEnumerable interface dictates that the class supports the GetEnumerator method that returns an IEnumerator interface. In turn, the IEnumerator interface provides a simple interface for iterating in a forward direction. Details of the IEnumerator interface can be seen in Table 4-2 (which shows properties) and 4-3 (which shows methods).
