When you create a user with the Active Directory Users and Computers snapin New Object User Wizard, you are prompted for some common properties, including logon names, password, and user first and last names. A user object in Active Directory, however, supports dozens of additional properties that you can configure at any time with the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. To read and modify the attributes of a user object, right-click the user and choose Properties. The user s Properties dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 3-4. The writing pad, shown in Figure 14-11, allows you to handwrite full words and have Windows Vista recognize them. The handwriting recognition algorithm uses probabilistic reasoning to determine what each word is based on the characters it contains. This allows Windows Vista to provide a best guess if the recognition routine does not fully recognize all the characters that make up a word. Clicking on a recognized word allows you to select near match alternatives or to provide corrections on a per-character basis. As you continue to write, the writing pad automatically enlarges. Tapping Insert clears the pad, entering the existing text into whatever document you are working on.
